We’re excited to dust off the tables in the Commons, air out the buildings and get camp ready for the upcoming season!
You know what that means …
WORK WEEKEND 2022: Saturday, May 21 – Sunday, May 22
Work weekend at O-AT-KA is an amazing tradition that helps Camp wake up from the winter months and ready the buildings and grounds for campers! For generations, volunteers have assisted in getting camp opened up.
Alumni, family, campers and friends assist with lawn care and gardening, painting, prepping the waterfront, general cleaning to open up the buildings, etc.
“Many hands make light work” so we hope you can join us for the weekend, a day, or even an afternoon to lend a hand for camp. We appreciate any and all time you can volunteer.
Volunteers are needed all day Saturday and Sunday until mid afternoon. O-AT-KA can provide lodging in the staff cottages and/or cabins. The Bungalow will not be open, as the renovations are being completed and the floors will just have been refinished. The Commons will also not be open, as our kitchen staff does not arrive until closer to camp. Lunch will be provided on Saturday.
To RSVP for work weekend, please email info@campoatka.org or call 207-787-3401. Please indicate when you will arrive and if you need lodging. We’ll provide more detailed information for those attending.
Additionally, the O-AT-KA community is invited to the Celebration of Life for former Facilities Director, Peter Powers, on FRIDAY, MAY 20th at 3:00pm in the O-AT-KA Chapel. Please see the link for information and how to RSVP to Peter’s family.
Peter passed away unexpectedly in November after serving O-AT-KA as the facilities director for over 20 years. Many have worked with Peter in the summer months and during work weekend so this is the perfect time to remember him. Peter’s Obituary |
