Giving Tuesday 2026 saw the start of O-AT-KA’s newest fundraising campaign, dubbed: The Winds of O-AT-KA. O-AT-KA is striving to raise $125,000 for a new fleet of sailboats that will reinvigorate and upgrade our sailing craft and regattas. Our current fleet of sailboats is over 20 years old and coupled with the fact that O-AT-KA saw a lot of success in regattas throughout 2025, as we placed in four of the six we participated in, it became apparent that now was the time to invest in our sailing program.
Sailing has always been an important and prominent part of O-AT-KA’s programming and character development. Not only is sailing a unique and special way to enjoy Sebago Lake, it teaches campers: resiliency, problem solving, decision making, teamwork, sportsmanship, communication and strategy. For those that haven’t had the opportunity to sail, it is much more than putting up the sail and steering the boat, there are numerous external factors that everyone in the boat must completely understand in order to have a successful trip.
In so many ways, our sailing program represents the soft skills that we instill at O-AT-KA; which is why we’ve decided to invest in this program at this time.
